Arty Garden Party Workshop: Garden Critters from Junk

The mad and joyous work of Kenilworth sculptor, Elli Schlunke, will be familiar to many Sunshine Coast art lovers.  From the black and blue bird of haplessness to Tjuk penh the mammoth, Elli’s work delights and inspires.  Making garden critters from junk in Elli’s workshop will give visitors to the Kenilworth Arty Garden Party the opportunity to let their imaginations run wild.  The workshop will be held on Sunday 4 September in Kenilworth Town Hall as part of the inaugural Kenilworth Arty Garden Party.

This workshop builds on a general theme of experiencing sculpture around Kenilworth over the weekend.  Several open gardens incorporate sculptural elements and a self-guided town garden and sculpture walk highlights a few hidden treasures.  Elli’s work, as well as that of Paul Farley, another local sculptor who recycles machinery parts into playful creatures, will be on display and for sale at several of the open gardens.

So, not only can visitors experience sculpture in a variety of settings in and around Kenilworth, but they can also turn their hand to building an individual sculptural piece to take home with them. All materials supplied.
