Dawn Awakening

Past, present and future celebrated through the awakening of a new dawn. 

Stumers Creek in Coolum plays centre stage for the Horizon Festival finale - a place of gathering, remembering, dreaming and ritual.

Honouring First Nations Peoples through music, dance, song and spoken word.  Featuring the Gubbi Gubbi Dance Troupe, and special guests Gennady Papizh (Berlin), Radical Son, Kahl Wallis, Emily WurramaraAndrea KirwinSoraya Fewquandie-Scott, Andrew Veivers and choirs; I’m Still Standing, Cool Harmonies and Coolum State School.

Visual art installations and projections by James Muller, Kris Martin, Simon McVerry, Rene Bahloo, Jandamarra Cadd & Cool Hearts.

Dawn Awakening is creatively produced by Red Chair in association with guest producer David Leha.

This event is staged on the beach. Please bring a rug or beach chair to sit on.  We ask that chairs are kept to the back of the audience viewing area.  Photography is welcomed but we ask that you stay seated during the performance.

Parking on Stumers Creek Rd his quite limited so alternate parking is suggested at Lions Park or Coolum Football Club. Shuttle buses will be available to transport attendees from the car parks to Dawn Awakening and back from 4.15am to 6.45am. Please remember to bring a torch and walk together in groups as it will be quite dark.

Coffee and bush foods will be available for purchase.
