Homegrown: Labyrinth

Homegrown: Labyrinth

Two lonely booksellers find themselves standing on the edge of eternity hurtling towards the end of all things. Together in their isolation, they spend their days frantically unearthing and preserving the last remnants of the books that remain.

Bouncing between memory and reality, they repaint a picture of times gone by honouring the heartbreaking beauty and fragility of this lost world. It is how we may remain alive, protecting the stories and memories of humankind. Ultimately, we are lost if our collective remembering fades with our fleeting lives.

Labyrinth is a dance theatre work choreographed by Chloe Keating performed in three of the Sunshine Coast’s most beloved bookshops on the Sunshine Coast. The story unfolds within three chapters taking you on a journey of the region:

  • Chapter 1 : The Book Bucket, Maroochydore
  • Chapter 2 : Rosetta Books, Maleny
  • Chapter 3 : Berkelouw Books, Eumundi

Each chapter can be seen as a standalone show, or as a full three-part story. Labyrinth offers space for the audience to take rest in the bookstore, find a quiet corner, and browse the endless books on the shelf.
