Field Trip is an experimental national research symposium featuring creative practice at the intersection of art, science, technology and the environment.
The creative team will introduce the experimental technology and collaborative methodologies underpinning the Beeyali project, creating an immersive audio-visual experience that highlights the interconnectivity of life within marine environments.
Delving into the multifaceted processes and concepts vital for survival at various scales, from the microscopic to the global, we will explore cutting-edge techniques for visualising marine soundscapes to unveil intricate ecological connections.
Field Trip participants will learn about cymatics, hydrophone recording, and listening underwater.
The trip will begin with a Welcome to Country on the ocean with Lyndon Davis and conclude with an original immersive experience of the new work, “Tallo-Billa”.
ABOUT FIELD TRIP
Field Trip launched in 2020 as a response to the global pandemic and has featured some of Australia’s leading artists and researchers in hybrid presentations, panels, interactive artworks and participatory experiences online and in person. The project explores the possibilities of presenting creative research and experimental practice in extended realities and new models that move beyond the traditional format of an academic conference.
